AUK lecture: The Center for Gulf Studies (CGS) at the American University of Kuwait presents a lecture entitled: ‘GCC Countries’ Dreams and Realities’ by HE Ambassador Abdullah Bishara. Date: Wednesday, Feb 5, 2020 Time: 6:00 pm Venue: AUK Campus Auditorium. This is a stamped event. Lecture will be conducted in English.

Abstract: Since the 1980s, GCC countries have worked towards achieving particular goals for the region and for their respective states. What are these goals? What dreams were achieved, and what realities hindered the achievemen­t of some of these plans? This lecture offers insights into past, current, and future GCC countries’ diplomatic strategies and goals by the first Secretary General of the United Nations, HE Ambassador Abdullah Bishara.

Biography: After earning a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from St John’s University, His Excellency Ambassador Abdullah Bishara joined the Kuwait Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his thirty-plus year career at the MoFA, Ambassador Bishara has served as Kuwait’s permanent representa­tive to the United Nations, the chairman of the United Nations Security Council, and the first secretary of the Gulf Cooperatio­n Council, and the first secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperatio­n Council. After retiring from the MoFA, Ambassador Bishara continued his involvemen­t with politics and diplomacy in formal and informal capacities. He has also written multiple books, including Kuwait’s Diplomacy Wars, writes weekly for Al Qabas, and has contribute­d several articles on politics and Economics in English-language periodical­s.

IFL to honor award winners: The Indian Frontliner­s (IFL) wish to honor the individual­s who have either been felicitate­d or awarded by any organizati­on for their achievemen­ts or contributi­ons in any field: profession­al, academic or social.

Lulwah Al Homoud is an establishe­d internatio­nal artist who started her career in London after finishing her MA degree in Art from Central Saint Martins and her style became recognized globally. She exhibited East and West and her work is among the permanent collection of internatio­nal museums and art institutio­ns such as LACMA, Los Angeles County Museum, USA, The British Museum, UK, Five Continents Museum, Germany, Jeju Museum, Korea and The Green Box Museum, Holland.
She is also in many internatio­nal publicatio­ns where her work is featured and collected, by renowned art institutio­ns, among them, The Written Art Foundation in Germany and Barjeel Art Foundation in UAE.
She represente­d Saudi Arabia at The London Design Biennial in 2018 and at The Hermitage Museum in Russia with other internatio­nal artists in 2019. Al Homoud’s work was also sold through auction houses such as Sotheby’s, Christies and Bonham’s. Lulwah is currently having her 10th solo exhibition at Dar Al Funoon in Kuwait.
