ASCC’s Kuwait Arts Forum: Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre (ASCC) ‘Kuwait Arts Forum’ being held at the Fine Arts Centre between Feb 13-15. The annual event is dedicated to highlighti­ng central themes in visual arts today and to fostering debate and dialogue on arts and culture across the Gulf region.

The participan­ts will present and showcase their artistic practice and artworks while educating and engaging with the audiences on topics such as drawing using random shapes, mastering handwritin­g, calligraph­y, the art of graffiti making and abstract Arabic writing. The local and internatio­nal artists and speakers include Eric Broug, Jassim Nasrallah, Mahmoud Tamman, Teakster, Asrae Yazdani, Mohammad Sharaf, Claudio Cravero, Yaman Al Baker, Ahmed Keshta, Ahmed Alholi, Meshari Alnajjar, Abdullah Alotaibi, Husain Albanay, Roch Michel and Alia Farid.

GKPA meetings: Global Kerala Pravasi Associatio­n (GKPA) Kuwait Chapter announced the Salmiya and Hawally Area meetings on Feb 14 from 2:00 pm in Central Hall at Salmiya Block 12 and Mahaboula Area meeting on Feb 21 in Kala Hall at Mahaboula Block 1 from 2:00 pm.

Meeting includes GKPA membership card issuance, membership campaign, NORKA and Welfare scheme spot online registrati­on, NORKA welfare previous applicant status checking opportunit­y, Explanatio­n on subjects like NORKA Pravasi chit, Pravasi investment plan, NORKA Legal for Returnee Entreprene­urs Loan, How to file a complaint in the Norka cell on Employment / Visa Scam will be in detail. IAK ‘Kulirkalam 2020’: Idukki Associatio­n Kuwait’s much-awaited picnic program named ‘Kulirkalam 2020’ shall be conducted in Abdaly Dar Al Sama Shalet on Feb 14. The organizers informed that the program has been planned in a unique way since the beginning including the journey towards the picnic spot.

Free IFRA coaching classes: Indian Football Referees Associatio­n (IFRA) will be starting free refresher/coaching classes for existing referees, new recruits, those aspiring to be referees and even those who would like to learn about the laws of the game at IEAS – Salmiya (Don Bosco).

FBC tournament: Filipino Badminton Committee (FBC) is inviting all badminton enthusiast in Kuwait to join their regular badminton tournament being held every Friday from 8 am to 7 pm at Kuwait Disabled Sports Club, Bin Khaldoun Hawalli. Over 10 badminton courts are now available for badminton practices and tournament and it is open for all nationalit­ies and from different badminton organizati­ons. PGMK service: Praise God Ministry of Kuwait (PGMK) holds services in Telugu and English in the NECK Compound, Lighthouse Church.

Fridays and Saturdays — 11.30 to 1:00 pm in English / 1:15 to 3:00 pm in Telugu.

Sundays services in the Hall of Hope from 3.30 to 5 pm and then in Lighthouse Church from 7.30 to 9.30 pm.

St Paul’s Church weekly activities: English worship services on Fridays at 10.30 am and on Sundays at 6.30 pm. The Friday English service has separate sessions for children and youth. A Mandarin language speaking congregati­ons meets separately on Fridays at 10.30 am in the Youth Centre at St Paul’s. Holy Quran classes: Emanway Foundation – Musk is offering classes to teach English-speaking ladies (and girls ages 5 and up) to read the Holy Quran in Arabic. The method is al-Qaedah Noorania, a traditiona­l program which has been used for many years around the world. (Note: ‘Al-Qaedah’ simply means ‘base’; this can be likened to a basic phonics program.)
