KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15: Kuwait Lawyers Association (KLA) has asked the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature (NCCAL) to study the Palace of Justice building through all scientific documents and historical information, and then determine its eligibility to move to future generations in implementation of the Kuwaiti Antiquities Law, reports Al-Rai daily.
The secretary of the association, Adnan Abul, said in a letter to the Secretary-General of the Council, Kamel Al-Abduljalil, that the Palace of Justice is a prominent and civilized edifice that has always reflected the civilized and bright aspect of judicial integrity in the State of Kuwait, whose halls have witnessed many historical events during more than three decades and its majestic image imprinted on the third issue of the Kuwaiti dinar on the 20 dinars banknote.
“It is considered a cultural and historical heritage that is dear to us all. In this regard, the association requests you to study the Palace of Justice building by collecting scientific documents and historical information and determining its eligibility for transmission to future generations in application of the provisions of the law that confirm the necessity for the National Council of Culture, Arts and Literature employees to study all the immovable effects in Kuwaiti lands, and collect documents scientific, and historical information related to it, and make a special file for each of them, and decide what must be preserved.”
Abul pointed out that the law did not prevent the NCCAL from studying, evaluating and registering the buildings that are not more than 40 years old, nor did the age of the edifice make the sole criterion, but allowed the registration of monuments that have witnessed important historical events such as the Qurain House and the Kuwait Towers.
