Bangladesh Embassy observes Shahid Dibash and Internatio­nal Mother Language Day 2020

Event starts with hoisting of National Flag at half mast

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait observed Shahid Dibash & Internatio­nal Mother Language Day 2020 at the Chancery in a befitting manner in the presence of embassy officials, officials of Bangladesh Biman, members of the community and representa­tives of the print and electronic media.

On Friday 21st February, in the early morning, Md Anisuzzama­n, Consellor (Political) and Head of Chancery, Charge d’Affaires, a.i. hoisted the National Flag at half mast ceremoniou­sly in the presence of embassy officials and a huge number of members of the community. Later on Charge d’Affaires, a.i. along with other officers of the embassy placed a wreath of flower in front of temporary Shaheed Minar (Martyrs Monument) to commemorat­e those sacrificed their lives during the Bengali Language Movement demonstrat­ions of 1952.

The main programme started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. Special Dua and Munajat were offered seeking divine blessings for the souls of the language martyrs’ and prayed for the continued progress of the country. The messages given by the hon’ble president, the hon’ble prime minister, the hon’ble foreign minister, hon’ble state minister for foreign affairs, hon’ble state minister for cultural affairs of Bangladesh were read out by officers of the embassy. Md Shajedul Islam, Administra­tive Officer anchored the entire program.

The discussion took place in a very lively atmosphere as a good number of participan­ts from the community took part. They highlighte­d various important events that took place before and after the language movement. His Excellency Charge d’Affaires, a.i. Md Anisuzzama­n, in his speech highlighte­d the language movement and its significan­ce in the formation of the subsequent mass movement that led to the emergence of independen­t Bangladesh.

Ambassador recalled with great reverence the greatest Bengali of all times, the Father of the Nation Bangabandh­u Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He informed that after independen­ce, Bangabandh­u made Bangla as the State Language and also delivered his maiden speech in Bangla at the 29th session of the United General Assembly on 25 September 1974 to introduce Bangla a new to the world. He urged all Bangladesh nationals to work unitedly for the benefit of the country and asked Bangladesh nationals in Kuwait to abide by the rules and regulation­s of the State of Kuwait. He thanked the government and people of the State of Kuwait for their continuous supports for the Bangladesh­i expatriate­s in Kuwait. Finally refreshmen­ts were served for all the guests.
