Large companies given deadline to improve housing conditions of workers living in Jleeb

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: Engineer Muhammad Sarkhoh, head of the Farwaniya Municipali­ty branch, was recently quoted as saying in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh there is an opportunit­y for large companies to improve the housing conditions of their workers, reports Al-Rai daily.

During a field inspection tour by personnel from the Public Authority for Manpower he laid emphasis on the companies that they must protect the rights of their employees.

In a statement to the daily, he said the Director-General of the Kuwait Municipali­ty, Eng Ahmad Al-Manfouhi, is following the conditions in the area, especially since he recently requested an extension of the Municipali­ty work noting that authoritie­s participat­ing in the committee, focus on companies with government contracts, and therefore there is a sufficient period of 6 months to improve their conditions.

He revealed, a second plan will be announced soon to deal with the rest of the violations in the area, especially since the committee has come a long way in administra­tively closing the violating stores.

He added, there will also be a closure with no extension and renewal of some commercial activities in the area, including a pharmacy, a company selling constructi­on materials, and money exchange since the renewal is currently being done according to the automated system, and moreover issuance of licenses for these activities is suspended.

Briton found dead:

An unidentifi­ed British citizen who was reported

missing by the British Embassy was found dead inside his apartment, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to the security sources when the man was not seen or heard of for about three days, and all attempts to reach him proved futile, the British Embassy in Kuwait contacted the concerned authoritie­s.

When securityme­n went to the building where the victim lived, they found his car parked in the parking lot. The men then got permission from the Public Prosecutio­n and forced open the door of the apartment and found the corpse of the man in the bed. The sources added, there was no injury marks on the body and the death is believed to be natural.

The corpse has been referred to Forensic Medicine for an autopsy.

Indian dies in fall:

The remains of an unidentifi­ed Indian, born in 1977, have been referred to Forensics for an autopsy to identify the cause of death, reports Al-Anba daily. According to security sources the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior received a report on the death of the victim whose corpse was found in a pool of blood on the ground floor. The daily said there was a 3 cms deep wound on his head and he allegedly bled to death. Initial reports show he fell from an iron ladder. Moreover, there were no other injuries or signs of theft.

According to a technical expert the victim fell on his head while coming down via the staircase from his first floor room.
