Qatar’s Hussein achieves great victory over Kuwaiti Al-Dulaimi
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: The first billiard (pool) tournament hosted by the Legends Pool Club in Salmiya continues until Feb 26, bringing together the top pool players in Kuwait and Qatar under the slogan “Kuwait ... our country Kuwait”.
The tournament enters a critical stage today before the start of the semi-finals scheduled for Tuesday, as part of the Qatari event on the occasion of this year’s Kuwait national day celebrations.
Qatari top player Bashar Hussein needs a win to secure his place in the semis after he achieved a great victory over top Kuwaiti pool player Ahmed Al-Dulaimi by 9 rounds against zero.
Hussein and Al-Dulaimi reached the group of winners with a victory over Omar Al-Shaheen (Kuwait) and the second over Fahd Al-Rashidi (Kuwait).
Also in the group of winners are Ali Al-Obaidly, Abdul-Latif AlFawal, Walid Majid (Qatar), Hussein Al-Syafi, Badr Al-Awadi and Abdullah Al-Anzi (Kuwait) who defeated Abdullah Al-Qattan, Mashaal Al-Mardi, Sulaiman Dashti, Abdullah Al-Youssef, Ahmed Al-Adwani and Mashari Buhammed (Kuwait) respectively.
In the group of losers, Omar AlShaheen defeated Fahd Al-Rashidi and Abdullah Al-Youssef over Abdullah Al-Qattan and Meshal AlMardi over Ahmed Al-Adwani respectively.
Meanwhile, Head of Asian Federation of Billiards and Snooker Salem Al-Naimi (Qatar), who is following the tournament’s activities, praised the high-level organization of the entire event.
In his statement, Al-Naimi stated that “everything is going wonderfully and without errors. The preparations rise to the international level in terms of technical equipment, hall and television broadcast. We thank the officials of the tournament and wish the participants the best of luck. The championship will continue as an annual event as a prelude to a bigger future project between the Qatari Federation and the Kuwait Billiards and Snooker Association.”
He also noted the turnout in the tournament, which exceeded expectations, and this indicates the popularity of billiards in Kuwait that has positively influenced the level of competition, especially since the two brotherly countries have players at a global level.
He also confirmed Qatar’s preparations to host the Asian Snooker Championship next month and that the number of countries expected to participate continues to grow.
