KUWAIT CITY, Feb 23, (KUNA): The United Nations Office in Kuwait in collaboration with the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Village hosted on Saturday a ceremony marking the 59th National Day and the 29th Liberation Day anniversaries.

The ceremony was hosted in UN Office Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad building, and was attended by huge crowds of foreign and Arab diplomats.

The General Director of the village, Advisor at the Amiri Diwan, Mohammad Dhaifallah Sharar, told reporters that the village’s participation comes to embody the distinguished relations between the State of Kuwait and the United Nations.

Sharar added that this celebration was an exceptional UN initiative in recognition of Kuwait’s role in supporting UN efforts to establish world peace, noting that the village’s participation in the UN function came upon directives from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.For his part, the village director Saif Al-Shalahi said in a similar statement that the village’s participation came to offer the diplomatic and international community a cultural and heritage view of the country, through setting up a heritage exhibition that is a gift from the village’s employees to the United Nations.

Traditional

Al-Shalahi said that the exhibition representing the life of the people of the desert in the past, which includes art of Sadu, which is one of the traditional Bedouin weaving.

Many old handicrafts were also shown, and a hobby of falconry was presented, and a presentation of some Kuwaiti folk cuisine and ancient Rababa art.

Meanwhile, as Kuwait celebrates the 59th National Day and 29th Anniversary of Liberation, streets throughout the country are adorned with the colors of the Kuwaiti flag and portraits of the country’s leadership.

Almost every road is putting on a full display of the black, white, green, and red colors in celebration of the national occasions.

In the meantime, Saudi Arabia’s General Sport Authority and the Saudi Professional League on Saturday shared Kuwait’s celebrations of the 59th National Day and the 29th Liberation Day.

In a gesture demonstrating the strong bonds between the two Arabian Gulf people, the Saudi University Stadium in Riyadh was adorned by Kuwaiti flags, posters of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud during the league game between Al-Hilal and Al-Itihad sports clubs.

Players entered the pitch wearing ribbons decorated with the flags of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and hoisting photos of the leaders of the two sisterly countries. They also posed for a photo under a billboard with the slogan “Together forever”.

The ceremony organizers played a special song on the stadium’s big screen about the special relations between the two countries.
