Kuwait charities dispatch 203 trucks of aid to Syria & Yemen

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 23, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Al-Salam Society for Humanitari­an and Charitable action dispatched on Saturday, in cooperatio­n with the Internatio­nal Islamic Charity Organizati­on, 203 trucks loaded with relief aid to Syria and Yemen.

The move is part of the Kuwaiti charities’ 2020 relief campaign, dubbed (let us join hands and break the number).

Amiri Diwan Advisor and the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Dr Abdullah Al-Maatouq, in a press statement, praised all efforts exerted to make this campaign a success, including the gathering and dispatchin­g of the 203 trucks in a few days for refugees in Syria and Yemen.

Al-Maatouq, who is also the president of the Internatio­nal Islamic Charity Organizati­on (IICO), expressed appreciati­on and thanks for Al-Salam Society for their humanitari­an and charitable work, and to all those who donated to this campaign.

In turn, the President of the Board of Directors of AlSalam Society Jassem AlAoun said in a statement that (Al-Salam) is keen to bring joy to refugees in Syria or in Yemen.

He noted the humanitari­an initiative comes in implementa­tion of His Highness the Amir’s directives and guidelines.

For his part, the general manager of the society, Dr Nabil Al-Aoun said in a similar statement that “108 trucks were allocated for our brothers in Syria and 95 trucks for our brothers in Yemen”.

Al-Aoun noted that this campaign is part of the pledges of the State of Kuwait and Al-Salam Society to the United Nations in support of Syrian people.
