KFSD to hold Fire and Safety Conference, Expo 2020 from March 3-5, says Al-Shatti

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 23: Kuwait Fire Service Directorate KFSD announced Wednesday that the sixth International Fire and Safety Conference and Expo 2020 will be held from third to fifth of March under the title (Crisis Management and Disaster Response).
The event will be held under the patronage and presence of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Deputy Chairman for the development of human resources at KFSD and head of the conference Major General Muhammad AlShatti said that the conference will be held at Kuwait International Fairgrounds – Hall 7, with participation of fire, emergency, disaster departments, and international organizations specialized in crisis managements.
The conference aims to benefit from crises management systems used by countries that faced disasters and knowing procedures and methods taken to reduce disasters risks, Al-Shatti added.
He stressed that KFSD seeks through this conference to gain various experiences from the countries of the world that have experienced and dealt with various disasters in different ways, and extract these systems, procedures and methods used to benefit from them in reducing disaster risks in Kuwait.
Participants of the conference include Canada, Chili, Italy, Japan, Russia, Turkey, UK, and the UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination office (UNDAC).

Officer threatened:
the nature of the disasters to which these countries are exposed according to their geographical location, Al-Shatti explained.
An unidentified Kuwaiti has been arrested and detained at the Sabahiya Police Station, after he almost caused disaster at a gas station in the area, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to security sources, the man who allegedly has a file at the Psychiatric Hospital, entered the gas station and shouted slogans against the United States of America and set fire to a cloth what looked like an American flag.
The security sources quoting the workers said, the man climbed out of the car and they believed he wanted to refuel the car, but instead took out a piece of cloth that looked like an American flag and set fire to it, but before the fire station could go up in flames, workers and a number of other motorists put out the fire and attempted to control the man.
He managed to get into his car and fled from the scene after hitting and injuring two motorcyclists. In the meantime the workers informed the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior. Police then combed the area and arrested the suspect.

Police have detained for interrogation an unidentified Kuwaiti for threatening an officer with the rank of lieutenant in the Capital governorate, reports AlRai daily.
According to the daily the suspect was driving in Mansouriya and he was suspected of being abnormal. The officer ordered the man to pull over and told him to get in the police vehicle and at this time the suspect allegedly threatened to pull off his ranks.
The officer informed the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior and a police force was dispatched to the area and the suspect was arrested and taken to the Qadsiya Police Station and his vehicle has been seized.
