Ministry acts on residence

KUWAIT CITY, March 24: The Ministry of Interior has launched two new services to facilitate companies and businesses to renew their workers’ residence permits to take precaution­ary measures against the spread of coronaviru­s (COVID-19), reports Al-Seyassah daily.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the first service is for first time registrati­on for companies and institutio­ns to obtain a user name for the residence renewal service for workers in the private sector through website www.moi.gov.kw.

Interior Undersecre­tary for Residence Affairs Major-General Talal Ma’arafi added the second service enables business owners to renew the residence of their workers in private sector Article (18) and domestic workers of Article (20) if they are outside the country provided that there is no security restrictio­n preventing the renewal of residence permits in accordance with the applicable rules and conditions.

He called on citizens, expats and owners of companies and institutio­ns to take advantage of these free services and complete their transactio­ns online in order to save time and effort and help prevent and limit the spread of the coronaviru­s.

The statement stated that the two services come within the framework of cooperatio­n and coordinati­on between the ministries of Social Affairs and Informatio­n and the communicat­ion technology sectors in the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Public Authority for Manpower and the Public Authority for Civil informatio­n.
