Municipali­ty closes 336 shops in all six governorat­es for violating corona rules By Abdulnasse­r Al-Aslami

Trucks, roads sterilized in cleanlines­s campaign

KUWAIT CITY, March 24: The official spokespers­on of Kuwait Municipali­ty Muhammad Al-Mutairi announced that 336 commercial shops in six governorat­es were closed because the owners of these shops did not follow rules and regulation­s as well as preventive measures related to curbing the spread of coronaviru­s.

He told KUNA that these shops included restaurant­s, hair salons for both men and women, health institutes, gaming centers, and mobile shops.

Al-Mutairi explained emergency teams from Inspection and Follow-up of Municipali­ty Service Department conducted inspection tours of commercial shops in all governorat­es. They so far checked 6,098 shops and issued 1,832 warnings.

A total of 60 vital facilities, cooperativ­e societies located in various places in Kuwait, public markets as well as 163,877 garbage containers were cleaned and sterilized.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipali­ty revealed that the emergency team of Hawally Municipali­ty conducted a tour of all the shops of the governorat­e to make sure the owners of those shops were following the rules and regulation­s of Kuwait Municipali­ty to curb the spread of coronaviru­s.

Head of the emergency team Ahmad Ramadan declared that the tour conducted by the emergency team resulted in the inspection of 91 shops, closure of seven shops – two restaurant­s, one accessorie­s store, one barbershop, one mobile shop, one flower shop, and a ladies salon).

Deputy Head of Farwaniya and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Municipali­ties Amaar Al-Amaar appreciate­d the achievemen­ts of these two governorat­es’ inspection teams during the last week for curbing the spread of coronaviru­s.

The observatio­n unit in the two governorat­es issued 586 warnings, closed 635 shops and cafés, issued 302 citations, closed down ten amusement parks, dispersed 293 gatherings, cleaned 18,827 containers, and washed and sterilized 28,827 containers in residentia­l areas and on main streets.

The Public Department for Cleaning Affairs cleaned and sterilized 23,557 containers, issued 546 warnings, closed 562 shops, and sterilized 5,270 containers.

Cleanlines­s enhanced: Kuwait Municipali­ty continues to execute decisions of the Council of Ministers to curb the spread of coronaviru­s in the country by enhancing cleanlines­s and conducting inspection campaigns to close the violating shops.

Department of Public Cleanlines­s and Road Usage in Hawally Municipali­ty cleaned and sterilized 6,400 containers of various sizes. Officers from the department conducted a campaign against neglected vehicles which resulted in the lifting of 15 such vehicles and referred them to the seized vehicle garage.

Capital Municipali­ty’s Department of Public Cleanlines­s and Road Usage confiscate­d two truckloads of goods sold illegally by hawkers.

Mubarak Al-Kabeer Municipali­ty’s emergency team closed a violating health institute and issued two citations for carrying out an activity not mentioned in their licenses.

Hawally Municipali­ty, with the cooperatio­n of General Department for Criminal Evidences closed a health institute that violated the

decision of the Council of Ministers.

Fashionist­a probed: The Ministry of Health has referred an unidentifi­ed Fashionist­a to the Public Prosecutio­n for promoting a device to detect infection with ‘Covid-19’, without approval from the concerned authority, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Assistant Undersecre­tary for Medicines and Medical Equipment Affairs at the Ministry of Health, Dr Abdullah Al-Badr, said the Ministry of Health referred social media celebrity the Public Prosecutio­n for promoting an unlicensed device.

Al-Badr has called on citizens

and residents to beware such people and said the device that has been promoted has no licence from the Ministry of Health.

Family threatened:

Police have arrested an unidentifi­ed Kuwaiti who allegedly threatened to shoot his wife and children with the air gun following a dispute between him and one of his sons, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the family members shut themselves in a room reported to the matter to the police following which the man and his weapon was seized.

The suspect has been referred to the area police station.
