MP Al-Kandari voices objection to Interior Ministry decision
MP Al Ruwai’e to sue those who spread false information
KUWAIT CITY, March 28: MP Abdullah Al-Kandari has voiced objection to the decision of the Interior Ministry to allow expatriates, who violated the Residency
Law, to rectify their status after paying the fine.
He argued this could have been a rare opportunity to correct the mistake and get rid of these erring expatriates; currently estimated at 160,000.
He pointed out that most of them are marginal laborers who will most likely disobey directives issued by the relevant authorities to curb the spread of coronavirus. He said the cost of providing services to them is much higher than the fines imposed on them, so they should be deported without paying the fine with the guarantee that they will be allowed to return to Kuwait once the coronavirus ends as per the rules in this regard.
In another development, MP Dr Oudah Al Ruwai’e has unveiled his intentions to sue those who spread false information that he interfered to prioritize the evacuation of his son from the United Kingdom.
He clarified that filing a case is not his nature because he believes in the freedom of opinion and criticism, but he must do so when it comes to hurling false accusations at him as such act affects his integrity. He added none of his children are studying abroad, indicating his eldest son completed his studies at Missouri University in the USA in the summer of 2019. He affirmed his son has been in Kuwait since then.
