Quran study suspended until 28th Sept

KUWAIT CITY, March 28: Minister of Justice and the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Counselor Dr. Fahd Al-Afasi has issued a decision to suspend study in all centers affiliated to the Holy Quran Affairs and Islamic Studies Sector of the Ministry for the academic year (2019/2020) until Sept 28, 2020, reports Al-Anba daily.

Al-Anbaa obtained a copy, states: “The educationa­l and administra­tive staff of all centers of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs referred to in Article 1 will be resumed in September.”

And the decision continues to read in the third article: “The study shall be resumed in all centers for male and female students for the academic year (2020/2019), starting from Oct 4, 2020.”

And in the fourth article, it is stated: “By a subsequent decision of the representa­tive in charge of the Holy Quran Affairs and Islamic Studies sector, the academic calendar for the academic year 20190/2020 and the academic year 2020/2021 will be issued.”

Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Saud Al-Harbi has emphasized on the implementa­tion of the Cabinet’s clear and explicit decision regarding the current school year that stipulates the suspension of studies until Aug 4, pointing out that the decision is clear and applies to everyone, including distant learning until taking into account every aspect of it, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a statement to the daily, he said, the decision to ‘shut schools’ is not the decision of the Ministry of Education or the Minister of Education, but the issue was addressed and discussed in a clear and broad manner from both the scientific and legal point of view by the concerned authoritie­s.

He said, all private and public institutio­ns will remain shut until Tuesday, Aug 4, 2020. The decision is binding on all.
