Society aims to deliver sterilization and hygiene kits to 5,000 people: Al-Subaihi
Strategic stock of medicines increased to two years
KUWAIT CITY, March 30: Chairman of the Board of Directors of Humanitarian Excellence Society Khalid Al-Subaihi affirmed that the society took positive action within the efforts of Kuwaiti charitable institutions in order to contribute to combating the corona epidemic that has swept the world, threatening human health and safety, reports Al-Anba daily.
Al-Subaihi said the society, after coordination and follow up by its volunteers and board of directors, laid down an emergency plan consisting of measures which the society will undertake and distribute based on a study of the situation in Kuwait. He disclosed the plan covers two areas – first is awareness and second is urgent relief.
According to Al-Subaihi, the society used the expertise of some young people among its members and its collaborators to quickly reach the targeted segments. The campaign focused on relief for daily casual workers, needy families, scholarship students, security workers and others; while the society directed its efforts towards all citizens through educational and awareness messages in support of efforts to confront the epidemic.
He added that with the escalation of the global crisis in the face of the new corona epidemic, which represented a very big challenge for various countries; Kuwait still provides a unique model in humanitarian work, thanks to the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah. The country takes the lead in efforts to address this pandemic both internally and externally. The goal of the society is to distribute sterilization and hygiene kits to 5,000 people in a bid to tackle coronavirus, he disclosed.
Meanwhile, Deputy Board Chairman of the society Khalil Al-Hammadi said the campaign aims to reassure the community and fulfill the duty of brothers towards people of the country – citizens and expatriates, exemplifying the values of Kuwait. He added the campaign aims to support the State’s efforts to guarantee the safety of citizens and expatriates in the midst of struggles to combat the virus.
In the meantime, in the framework of the proactive steps taken by Ministry of Health, informed sources indicated about coordination between Ministry of Health and Ministry of Finance to secure sufficient drug stock for a period of two years in order to avoid any future repercussions that may be linked to developments in the current global health situation, reports Al-Rai daily.
They revealed about the approval of Ministry of Finance to provide financial credits for the budget towards the purchase of medicines, essential materials and medical devices for the next two fiscal years as a single payment, adding, “Coordination is ongoing in this regard with the companies that supply medicines and the embassies of some of the exporting countries.”
The sources emphasized, “This trend comes within the framework of the proactive steps taken by Ministry of Health with the cooperation of relevant ministries in order to maintain the strategic stock and secure a reserve stock to prepare for any future emergency conditions or developments”.
