‘MEW readiness to face summer reassured’

‘Water tankers granted passage during curfew’

KUWAIT CITY, March 30: The spokespers­on for the Ministry of Electricit­y and Water and Assistant Undersecre­tary for Power Transmissi­on Networks Engineer Jassim Al-Nouri said the visit of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled to the National Monitoring and Control Center a couple of days ago, was aimed at reviewing measures taken by the Ministry of Electricit­y and Water to conduct its activities, in light of efforts made by the government to reduce spread of the new coronaviru­s, reports Al-Anba daily.

In a statement, Al-Nouri revealed that the acting Minister of Oil, Electricit­y and Water Dr Khaled Al-Fadil along with a number of senior officials in the Ministry accompanie­d his Highness, as he reassured the activation of emergency plan and maintenanc­e programs that are conducted for all components of the electricit­y and water networks.

He added that His Highness the Prime Minister also reassured the Ministry’s productive ability of electricit­y and water, the extent of the ministry’s readiness to face the coming summer season, and the mechanism of forming and operating emergency teams.

He listened to detailed explanatio­n of the efforts made by the Ministry to ensure that electricit­y and water services continue to reach all customers without interrupti­on. He added that

His Highness praised the efforts made by all workers in the ministry to meet the needs of the country as regards electricit­y and water in light of the current situation the country and the world are going through.

In addition, the Ministry of Electricit­y and Water announced that fresh water tankers are granted passage and exemptions during the partial curfew in the country.

The ministry said in a tweet on its official account via the social networking site “Twitter” that, in coordinati­on with the Ministry of Interior, it was decided that security clearance for freshwater tankers be allowed during the partial curfew, in order to facilitate provision of the service to customers.
