‘MEW readiness to face summer reassured’
‘Water tankers granted passage during curfew’
KUWAIT CITY, March 30: The spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity and Water and Assistant Undersecretary for Power Transmission Networks Engineer Jassim Al-Nouri said the visit of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled to the National Monitoring and Control Center a couple of days ago, was aimed at reviewing measures taken by the Ministry of Electricity and Water to conduct its activities, in light of efforts made by the government to reduce spread of the new coronavirus, reports Al-Anba daily.
In a statement, Al-Nouri revealed that the acting Minister of Oil, Electricity and Water Dr Khaled Al-Fadil along with a number of senior officials in the Ministry accompanied his Highness, as he reassured the activation of emergency plan and maintenance programs that are conducted for all components of the electricity and water networks.
He added that His Highness the Prime Minister also reassured the Ministry’s productive ability of electricity and water, the extent of the ministry’s readiness to face the coming summer season, and the mechanism of forming and operating emergency teams.
He listened to detailed explanation of the efforts made by the Ministry to ensure that electricity and water services continue to reach all customers without interruption. He added that
His Highness praised the efforts made by all workers in the ministry to meet the needs of the country as regards electricity and water in light of the current situation the country and the world are going through.
In addition, the Ministry of Electricity and Water announced that fresh water tankers are granted passage and exemptions during the partial curfew in the country.
The ministry said in a tweet on its official account via the social networking site “Twitter” that, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, it was decided that security clearance for freshwater tankers be allowed during the partial curfew, in order to facilitate provision of the service to customers.
