Heart attacks
Consultant of Cardiovascular Diseases at Ministry of Health Dr Farida Al-Habib recently made an announcement about the discovery of four coronavirus cases with heart attacks and malignant strokes in AlSabah Hospital from last Wednesday until a couple of days ago, and the transfer of these patients to the wards No. 5 and 11 in the hospital, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
This is in line with the report published in the American-based newspaper “The New York Times” which revealed that new symptoms caused by COVID-19 are worse than the currently known respiratory symptoms, as they include damage to the heart muscle to such an extent that the patient appears to suffer from severe heart attack.
The report of Ministry of Health concerning the death of an Indian expatriate at Al-Amiri Hospital few days ago as a result of a heart attack, and the discovery by doctors that the deceased was infected with coronavirus supports the report published in the New York Times concerning the effect of the coronavirus on the heart muscle, especially among people with chronic noncommunicable diseases.
The American newspaper published its report titled “Is it a heart attack? No, it is coronavirus” in March. This report, which was circulated throughout the world, was written by the two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner in science and medicine Gina Kolata. It sparked a new shock and surprise and came as a warning that the severity of the coronavirus exceeds the respiratory system and has the ability to attack the heart.
