Greek envoy appreciates Kuwait’s efforts to fight COVID-19 pandemic
KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The Greek Ambassador to Kuwait Konstantinos Piperigos affirmed that Kuwait spares no effort to protect citizens and residents living on its soil, reports Al-Anba daily.
He highlighted that the government of Kuwait took decisive preemptive measures in the face of the coronavirus pandemic since the beginning of the crisis.
In an interview, Ambassador Piperigos revealed that the few Kuwaitis still present in Greece are receiving all necessary support and attention from the Embassy of Kuwait there.
He explained that few members of the Greek community in Kuwait have already returned to their homeland. Some of them are thinking of returning to Greece in the near future. The embassy has been continuously communicating with the Greek community in Kuwait via official announcements, e-mails and phone lines designated for this purpose.
Ambassador Piperigos indicated that the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Greece is 1,735 (which increased to 2,011 as of April 11).
He affirmed that the Greek government has taken all necessary and decisive measures to confront the outbreak in a timely manner, declaring that the Greek citizens are committed to these measures and procedures based on awareness of what is imposed by the current conditions.
The ambassador said there is no doubt that coronavirus is a serious threat that the international community must join efforts to combat, adding that the government is fighting a fierce battle to confront it in Greece.
It is worth mentioning that the latest statistics in Greece, as of April 11, are as follows: The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases so far is 2,011. Male patients constitute 54.9 percent of the total number of cases. Unfortunately the country recorded 92 deaths. The average age of the deceased victims is 74 years. Also, 93 of the total number of patients are living on ventilators (77.4 percent of them are men).
