- By Marwa Al-Bahrawi

KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The road accidents and people visiting the out patients department has considerably decreased at the Al-Jahra Hospital.

In this regard, Director of Al-Jahra Hospital, Dr. Ali Al-Mutairi, says there is a considerable decrease in the rate of accidents which has fallen by 65 percent, and added the average number of people visiting the outpatient department is between 500 and 600 whereas in the past the department would treat between 1,400 and 1,600 cases per day.

Al-Mutairi asserted the Ministry of Health has succeeded in limiting the number of visitors to other hospitals and health centers by introducing precautionary measures and limiting visiting hours. For example, by limiting the visits to first degree relatives only and taking several other preventive measures.

Al-Mutairi also pointed to the partial curfew imposed by the government following the outbreak of the coronavirus and said this has to a big extent reduced the number of road accidents and casualties, and fights among the people.

This is also because the concerned authorities run a thorough check on the vehicles as a result of which accidents have reduced and this has lifted the burden from the shoulders of doctors and medical staff especially the emergency medical cases.

Al-Mutairi said the Jahra Hospital was the first to limit visiting hours to just two hours per day to reduce the burden on patients and also in terms of reducing the number of visitors since only two people (first degree relatives) are allowed in at one time. This is done to protect the patients, he added.

The senior official praised the efforts exerted by all workers of the Ministry of Health and particularly the Jahra Hospital to confront the coronavirus.
