Defense Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansoor during the inspection visit to the logistics stores of the Kuwaiti Army. KUWAIT CITY, April 21: The Ministry of Interior has taken stringent measures against the visa traders, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily quoting reliable sources said the trade became transparent following the April 30 deadline given by the Minister of Interior, Anas Al-Saleh for residence law violators to leave the country without paying fines, keeping the option open to return to the country and the air ticket paid for by the government.

It is common knowledge that many of these violators were brought to the country and were left in the open to fend for themselves.

The source said that the Ministry of Interior will implement intensive security campaigns to arrest the violators who have not surrendered, and will impose the most severe penalties according to the law.

The source pointed out that the General Department of Residence Affairs Investigation has taken into custody 25 Kuwaitis for trading in visas and 12 Egyptians working as brokers.

The source pointed out all those arrested will be referred to the Public Prosecution in the near future.

The source revealed when the security authorities checked the records of some companies, each of them had in their file about 4 thousand workers of different nationalities.

One of the Kuwaitis who is a suspect of visa trading is believed to be the nephew of a former governor.

Couple in human peddling:

General Department for Immigration has filed a “human trafficking” case against a law firm which is managed by an Egyptian woman and her husband, reports AlSeyassah daily.

According to informed security sources, a block has been placed on the file of the law firm, an order has been issued for the arrest of the Egyptian couple, and a travel ban has been imposed on them.

Investigations revealed that 20 visas were issued for marginal workers under the sponsorship of the law firm through forgery.

A case of forgery had been filed against the Egyptian woman, but she had resumed her activities with the help of her husband.

Necessary steps were taken to summon the concerned Kuwaiti employee for investigations and determine the number of forged visas issued.

Co-ops feel threatened:

The cooperative societies sector feels threatened following measures taken by the government to contain the spread of the corunavirus, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The specter of bankruptcy is ‘staring in the eye’ of a number of cooperative societies because they are forced to close doors during curfew, quarantine, prohibitions and legalizing operating hours.

Well-informed sources confirmed that this sector is in the process of requesting government support, which includes many exemptions, adding that the annual profit is 53 million dinars, out of which 23 million goes in rents and Zakat and 5% in the form of other deductions.

They said if this trend continues they will go bankrupt especially those co-ops whose sales have

Woman ‘raped’:

Police are looking for an unidentified person for luring a Kuwaiti woman to his apartment and raped her, reports Al-Rai daily.

The victim told the police she went to a phone repair shop with two phones to fix them and since it was time for the shop to close, she left the phones with the man and left.

Later she contacted the man on his personal phone and the latter lured her to come to his apartment to pick up the phones.

She added, when she reached the apartment, she found the door open and the man waiting for her. In a swift moment he pulled her in and shut the door after her, gagged her mouth and she lost consciousness and later she discovered she had been ‘raped’.

Doctor assaulted:

Police are looking for an unidentified citizen

for assaulting a female doctor at the Al-Bahar Eye Center, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, this happened when the suspect took his wife to the hospital for an eye check.

He allegedly entered the doctor’s room bypassing others who were in queue and when he was told he must wait for his turn he presumably got angry and verbally insulted the doctor and again he was told that he must wait for his turn.

The suspect

then

allegedly

asked another doctor about the condition of his wife’s eye and he was told that without checking the patient it is impossible to diagnose what was wrong with the eye.

The suspect then allegedly got angry and entered the doctor’s clinic from another door and directed a blow at her face, but she dodged him and he ended up hitting her in the neck and escaped.

A complaint has been filed with the Shuwaikh Industrial Police Station. The doctor has given police details about the suspect.
