-

KUWAIT CITY, May 2: Spokesperson of Kuwait Municipality Mohammad Al-Mutairi affirmed efficiency of the contingency plan for the crisis, saying everything is moving on the right path through the executive and monitoring authorities via a series of field procedures implemented to combat spread of the new corona virus (Covid-19), reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Al-Mutairi said the contingency plan stands on four major points containing whatever has to do with execution of the decisions of the Council of Ministers and Ministry of Health. The gradual chains of procedures include the provision of sanitizers, masks and gloves, and closure of café joints.

He pointed out that the main point involves the closure of cinema halls, auditoriums, public and private event halls, and hotel ballrooms. It includes the prohibition of temporary halls and trade fairs, sitting down in restaurants and café joints such that services should be limited to delivery on request. He said clubs, gyms, and recreational halls for kids and adults have since been closed.

He stressed that the plan includes closing down of shopping malls, non-foodstuff supermarkets, men and women salons. He declared that shops and activities exempted in the closure have been specified, while the Friday Market and its surrounding markets have been closed down alongside Amghara Market for ceramics and planks, and all types of cafes.

He reiterated that Municipality teams from various administrations embarked on field tours in all six governorates leading to closure of 4,857 shops, restaurants and cafes. It affected 457 shops that were closed administratively, while shop owners closed 4,400 others.
