Over 25,000 residence law violators register to leave
Be prepared ‘to return’ to work
KUWAIT CITY, May 2: About 2,000 residence law violators made a last ditch attempt to avail themselves of the opportunity to leave the country without paying fines following the amnesty issued by the Ministry of Interior and keep the option open to enter the country again legally, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
According to the daily hundreds of people of all nationalities poured into the Farwaniya region where the ‘Interior’ had allocated centers to register the names of violators during the amnesty period which was from April 1 to April 30.
According to reliable security sources more than 21,000 had registered before the last date and the sources say there are approximately now 23,000 violators living in government shelters waiting for their turn to leave the country.
The daily added, 2,100 Filipino residence law violators have already left the country and this brings the total number of violators who have left or awaiting their departure to more 25,000.
Virus
The sources indicated the violators in the shelters enjoy all necessary health and humanitarian requirements as well as daily meals in addition to constantly examining them by doctors present to ensure their safety from the new Corona virus, and they are now awaiting decisions from their countries to evacuate them.
Meanwhile, the government is said to have issued directives to ministries and government agencies to ‘prepare’ to return to work according to plans taking into account all data, irrespective whether work was stopped due to the spread of the coronavirus or whether the scenario should continue or what necessary steps need to be taken, reports Al-Rai daily quoting reliable sources.
The same sources told the daily, “there is a conviction that is forming among various countries of the world, including Kuwait, that the situation cannot continue as it is in terms of continuing to close businesses and disrupt the cycle of the economy, and therefore every request was made to prepare to return to work according to the dates which the government determines in coordination with the health authorities and other data which is being constantly monitored by the concerned authorities.
The sources pointed out that “technological solutions and dealing electronically with the situation will play a decisive role in many areas, as the government is keen to develop plans to guarantee the provision of services to citizens and residents with a minimum necessity of personal presence within the institutions, in order to prevent gatherings and to avoid crowds.”
