Municipality delivers 4,260 permits for delivery workers

KUWAIT CITY, May 3: The Director-General of Kuwait Municipality, Engineer Ahmad Al-Manfouhi ran a check on the work of municipal teams posted at the security checkpoints in the Capital Governorate to ensure the food delivery workers working for restaurants hold permits and follow health requirements, reports Al-Qabas daily.

During his field trip to security checkpoints, Al-Manfouhi was all praise for municipality inspectors, who were seen directing the supervisory teams on the need to tighten measures and ensure food delivery service workers carry permits and observe health requirements.

It is worth mentioning the Municipality has issued 4,260 permits for food service delivery workers.

The daily added, the inspection is carried out in collaboration with the Special Forces to ensure the food delivery workers do not violate the rules.

Security sources told the daily the campaign resulted in the arrest of 12 workers, because they were not sponsored by the restaurants they work for. They are residence law violators because they work for others, rather than their sponsors.

The security sources said most of them are domestic workers. They have been referred to the concerned authority and the sponsors have been summoned for interrogation.

The sources pointed out that the campaigns are continuing to implement the law, curb the violators, and establish security and discipline.

The sources indicated the Ministry of Interior is currently in the process of organizing an extended campaign in areas where ‘singles’ live to arrest violators of the residence law.

This will be done after the expiry of the deadline which was given for residence law violators to leave the country without paying fines.
