Teams formed, checkpoints named

KUWAIT CITY, May 3: Ministry of Health is preparing to launch the coronavirus rapid testing center at the beginning of next week, reports Aljarida daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that Ministry of Health has been working on launching this service for about two weeks. They have been assigning workers with various tasks and training them. They have determined the checkpoints and target groups.

One of the centers will be the parking lot of Jazeera Airways building in Kuwait International Airport, another will be opened in the quarantine center that was recently established by Ministry of Public Works next to the Jaber Al-Ahmad Sports Stadium.

The teams will be divided into technical and medical. The technical team will take up the task of entering the ‘patient’s’ data via an automated system developed for this task, and distributing the ‘patients’ to checkpoints where they will be examined by the trained medical team.

As for the testing mechanism, the sources explained that the medical team will take a blood sample of the person and wait for ten minutes to check for movement of antibodies to the virus in the body. If it is proven that the antibodies move, the medical team will take a swab from the individual to check if he/ she is infected with the coronavirus. The patient will be transferred to medical centers based on a medical protocol developed to deal with infected cases.
