‘I did it to defend my family’s honor’; Egyptian re-enacts compatriot’s kill
36 men caught riding bikes during curfew time
KUWAIT CITY, May 5: The Egyptian, Mohammad Ibrahim, who has been charged with the premeditated murder of the fellow compatriot has re-enacted the crime in the presence of prosecutors and security officers, reports Al-Anba daily.
The victim is the Egyptian building guard (Zeinhom Zakir) born in 1970 and he was allegedly stabbed to death near a house under construction where the victim worked in the Dasma area, reports Al-Anba daily.
The victim was allegedly taken by surprise when the suspect stabbed him several times. All the details of the crime have been documented by a team from the Criminal Evidences Department.
The accused had allegedly earlier told the interrogators that he killed his friend not for money but to defend the honor of his family – his wife and daughter – because the victim allegedly constantly ‘talked bad’ about them when both the suspect and the victim lived in one apartment.
He said on the day he killed the victim, he went to the Dasma Cooperative Society and bought a knife and went to the place where the victim worked, maneuvered his movements and stabbed him in the chest until he fell dead.
14 violators arrested:
Officers from Ministry of Interior arrested 14 violators of the partial curfew on Saturday.
Security sources explained that ten of the arrested individuals are Kuwaitis.
Two of the violators were arrested in Capital Governorate, four in Hawally, two in Jahra and one in Ahmadi. They have been referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
Meanwhile, Farwaniya securitymen arrested 36 young men who were caught riding motorbikes during curfew time, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to security sources, Farwaniya Security Directorate launched a sudden campaign in Firdous and Ardiya areas after receiving several complaints about young men riding their motorbikes in groups in the areas. Security checkpoints were set up on the roads in Firdous area Blocks 5 and 6.
During the campaign, 36 young men were arrested for riding their motorbikes after Iftar time. They were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
BSF helps sectors:
Border Security Forces of Ministry of Interior assisted other sectors of the ministry in isolating Mahboula area and implementing necessary measures to ensure the safety of the area.
According to security sources, officers from the sector went to Mahboula area to support the security authorities and deal with problems caused by expatriates and their attempts to escape from the area. Security authorities are working on securing Mahboula area after implementing complete lockdown based on a decision issued by the Cabinet.
Producer apologises:
Producer and director Abdullah Bushehri, who produced the Gulf series ‘Muhammad Ali Roud’, apologized for the inadvertent mistake committed by actress Fatima Al-Hosani in mixing up the names of the Prophets (Peace be Upon Them), reports Al-Anba daily.
Bushehri pointed out mistakes could happen while working on a series like any other line of work. He attributed the error to the need to expedite procedures in order to complete the series on time. He reiterated “the whole team behind the series is profoundly sorry for this error.”
He affirmed the scene has been deleted in a significant number of Gulf television channels which are currently showing the series.
Commenting on the issue, Dr Muhammad Al-Tabtabaei – former Dean of the College of Sharia and Chairman of the Ifta Committee in the State of Kuwait – said “this is a slip of the tongue, it was not intended. Nevertheless, it should be deleted, because Prophet Yunus (Peace be Upon Him) was the one inside the belly of the whale.”
Lawyer to file case:
Lawyer Mubarak Al-Harbi declared that he will file a case against Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, General Customs Administration and Ministry of Commerce and Industry, demanding not to import fruits, vegetables and fish from Egypt.
In a press release, he insisted that the produce from Egypt are not suitable for human consumption, as testified by Egyptian officials, adding that he will reveal the documents and TV interviews with these officials who stated that irrigation is carried out using sewage water.
