KUWAIT CITY, May 5: Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Bassel AlSabah says the medical delegations that visited the country to exchange experiences in the fight against COVID-19 praised the measures taken by Ministry of Health in this regard, stressing that all precautionary measures taken in the health facilities are in line with the approved global protocols, reports Al-Anba daily.

He revealed that two rapid testing centers have been prepared and will be opened soon for examining people inside vehicles.

Stressing that the return to normalcy at the present time is premature, Sheikh Dr. Bassel said, “We are still in the stage of fighting the virus. The health teams are working with all their energies and with tremendous efforts on the frontlines to limit its spread. We need everyone to come together and cooperate to move beyond this stage. Praise God, Ministry of Health’s plan to evacuate citizens has succeeded in all its stages. We appreciate the cooperation of all concerned parties and their participation in ensuring the success of the plan. All sectors of the country are working hand-in-hand to confront COVID-19.”

He highlighted that the number of COVID-19 cases among health personnel in Kuwait is not different from the rest of the world.

The minister praised the efforts exerted by the medical crew on the frontline, describing them as “The new wall of Kuwait”.

He revealed that cases have been filed against a number of violators of home quarantine, and necessary legal measures will be taken against them, warning that “Tampering with health security and public health is a red line”.

The minister explained, “We started by testing the health employees of COVID-19. A comprehensive campaign led by the public health sector was also started in all areas of Kuwait including the areas where the virus appeared in order to monitor the outbreak and prepare plans to control it.”

Regarding the cases of recovery, he affirmed that these cases are on a rise in Kuwait, which is a reassuring indication and a source of hope.

The Minister of Health called on all citizens and residents to abide by all the health requirements and avoid going out except for urgent purposes, adding, “The pandemic will disappear if people stay home.”
