Dr Sultan calls for random tests
KUWAIT CITY, May 6: Director of the Environmental and Climate Pollution Program and spokesperson for the Media Committee on coronavirus at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research Dr Sultan Al-Salem affirmed that the institute in coordination with a number of authorities inside and outside the country is currently working to develop scientific research applications that will curb the spread of coronavirus and eradicate the pandemic in Kuwait, reports Al-Anba daily.
He pointed to several studies conducted by the institute regarding the economic consequences of the virus on the country, as he predicted a decrease in the national production by only 3 percent due to the hours of partial ban for six consecutive months, in a scenario considered to be the most severe under the most extreme conditions. He revealed a proposal submitted by the institute to concerned state authorities for an integrated economic project, which includes the state’s recovery plan from the pandemic the country is currently facing.
He explained the institute is currently developing a specialized research project in the study of air virus transmission. He said the institute was also finalizing a research project that would develop anti-virus surfaces (COVID-19) to be presented to the Kuwait Foundation for Scientific Support to aid research efforts in that regard.
Al-Salem called for random tests to be conducted in the near future as part of the efforts to combat the disease, saying it is imperative and commendable their initiative to stop the spread of the virus.
