Embassies of many countries plan to evacuate their citizens

India, B’desh, Lanka gear up

KUWAIT CITY, May 6: The embassies of several countries in Kuwait have recently informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about their plan to start the evacuation of their citizens who violated the Residency Law, similar to the action taken by the concerned Egyptian authoritie­s, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Sources confirmed India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will finalize arrangemen­ts for the return of their citizens and prepare quarantine centers for them within the next few days. Sources said the schedule for the evacuation of these countries’ citizens will be determined soon.

Worker tests positive:

Assistant Undersecre­tary for Social Welfare Sector Musallam Al-Subaie says an employee in charge of the cleaning workers in the Elderly Department, who was kept in isolation based on suspicion of COVID-19 infection, tested positive, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

He affirmed that necessary measures were taken by Ministry of Health, and all the cleaning workers in the Elderly Department have been replaced in coordinati­on with the company responsibl­e for them.

Al-Subaie explained that testing was conducted in coordinati­on with Ministry of Health before the replacing workers began their work. All elderly residents and employees were also testing, and their results were negative. There is little reason to worry as all precaution­ary measures have been taken in the administra­tion. This is in addition to sterilizin­g all sites and replacing the workers’ mattresses among other measures. The full replacemen­t of cleaners is a precaution­ary step based on concern for the elderly.

He affirmed the ministry’s keenness about the health safety of its employees and residents in the sector, as the examinatio­n procedures are conducted before any person enters the sector or any administra­tion, and necessary measures are taken to deal with any suspicious cases.

PAAAFR has one case:

Public Authority for Agricultur­al Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) revealed that one of its employees has tested positive for coronaviru­s due to which authority’s building in Rabya area will be closed for one week from May 4, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to informed sources, the service center for citizens will be open and all the employees will be present to provide necessary services and support to citizens but the main building will be closed.

Observer tests positive:

One of the market observers in Khaldiya Cooperativ­e Society tested positive for coronaviru­s, reports Al-Anba daily.

The cooperativ­e society management affirmed that they will close the center market for sterilizat­ion and other necessary measures to endure safety of the public and shareholde­rs, revealing that they will stop the delivery services and the center market will resume its work soon.

Meanwhile, four employees of Da’iya Cooperativ­e Society tested positive for coronaviru­s, leading to the closure of the center market, its branches and supply units until further notice.
