‘Transfer’ of patients from private to general ward is organizational move
‘Some citizens were undergoing treatment abroad’
KUWAIT CITY, May 7: The transfer of patients from private rooms to general wards in some hospitals is an organizational move in the interest of the public; especially after the arrival of more than 30,000 citizens from abroad in line with the evacuation plan laid down by the government, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources from the Health Ministry.
Reacting to news about the transfer of patients, sources disclosed some citizens who came from abroad were undergoing overseas treatment for kidney and chronic diseases; in addition to diseases suffered by children, hence, the need to transfer some patients from the private rooms to general wards as the aforementioned incoming patients need extensive medical care.
Sources affirmed the condition of patients transferred to the general wards is semi-stable and that no one suspected of being infected with corona is confined in these wards as there are wards allocated for corona cases.
Sources added medical care is guaranteed for all citizens and residents, but some patients whose condition is stable need to stay at the hospital for a long period and it just happened that they are in private rooms; thus, their transfer aims to make way for another patient whose condition necessitates stay in private rooms.
Sources said some public hospitals are experiencing the phenomenon of patients staying in private rooms for a long period, including cases dating back to 2009.
