-

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: Head of Kuwait Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Muhammad Sager revealed the government is concerned about the amendment of labor and rental laws, reports Al-Qabas daily.

In a press statement, he revealed that he discussed the issue with representatives of Kuwaiti companies in the contracting sector. KCCI board members Fahad Yaqoub Al-Joan and Talal Jassim Al-Kharafi were also present in the meeting; while the companies were represented by Dari Barjis Al-Barjas, Iyad Al-Thuwaini, Talal Anwar Al-Mulla and Khaled Faisal Al-Mutawa.

Sager confirmed the KCCI met with various sectors of the economy and specific unions, in light of its efforts to address the current health crisis. He said the KCCI is keen on extending a helping hand to the Kuwaiti private sector to improve the current situation that all companies are facing.

They tackled issues concerning the local contracting sector, the need to evaluate fees in the sector during the current period, delayed settlement of dues and claims by government agencies, and the need to settle such issues retrospectively due to the profound impact it is enduring in a bid to restore activities.

The meeting also discussed lifting letters of guarantee in banks to stimulate the perception of the private sector by looking at it as a basic partner, reviving vital projects with the Public-Private Partnership Authority and expediting completion of all necessary procedures.
