Egyptian murder suspect re-enacts crime, is detained at Central Prison

Partial curfew blessing in disguise, cuts accidents rate

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: The Egyptian, Mohammad Ibrahim, who has been charged with the premeditat­ed murder of the fellow compatriot has been detained at the Central Prison after he re-enacted the crime in the presence of prosecutor­s and security officers, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily added, the man who claims he has committed the crime to protect his honor will be referred to the Criminal Court.

The punishment for premeditat­ed murder is execution by hanging, especially that he admitted before the prosecutio­n and investigat­ive bodies in the Ministry of the Interior that he planned to kill the man and even purchased the tool with which he killed the man.

The victim is the Egyptian building guard (Zeinhom Zakir) born in 1970 and he was allegedly stabbed to death near a house under constructi­on where the victim worked in the Dasma area.

The suspect has admitted that on the day of the murder, he went to the Dasma Cooperativ­e Society and bought a knife and went to the place where the victim worked, maneuvered his movements and stabbed him in the chest until he fell dead.

Blessing in disguise:

The partial curfew which has been imposed by the Council of Ministers which is 16 hours a day (from 4 pm to 8 am) recently and before about 12 hours, has had a positive effect on the number of traffic violations, whether direct or indirect, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily added, the rate of traffic accidents have reduced considerab­ly and what has been recorded last April is very low compared to the same period for the past three years in terms of accidents and casualties. The daily quoting security sources said the partial curfew has played an important role in this decline.

The source stated the monthly rates of traffic violations -- directly and indirect -- exceed 50,000 in most cases, but during the month of April it recorded about 10,000, and with regard to traffic accidents, the monthly rate reaches 6 thousand accidents while in the month of April it did not record more than 1,000, and most did not result in deaths.

Mystery solved:

Personnel from the Criminal Investigat­ion Department (CID) have solved the mystery of the dead man whose corpse was dumped in the garden of a house by an unidentifi­ed person in Mubarak Al-Kabeer, reports Al-Rai daily.

The suspect was arrested from Kabad and according to the security sources at the time of the arrest the suspect was in possession of a large amount of drugs and was found sleeping on the roof of his car which was parked in a deserted area.

The victim had allegedly died from an overdose of the drug and police investigat­ions led to the arrest of his friend.

During preliminar­y investigat­ions the suspect is said to have admitted that the victim was on the verge of dying when they were consuming drugs in Hawalli.

He added, during the curfew hours he drove to Mubarak Al-Kabeer and threw his body in the garden of a house.

He has been referred to the Public Prosecutio­n.

Noise disturbanc­e:

Four individual­s including a cross-dresser have been detained for investigat­ion concerning complaints related to noise disturbanc­e in Salmiya area, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to security sources, the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received a complaint from the caretaker a building in Salmiya area about loud music coming from one of the flats in the building that led some neighbors to complain to him. Hawally securityme­n went to the location and they were informed by the caretaker that he went to the flat and requested the tenants to reduce the volume of the music but they brushed him off saying he has no right to get involved in such matters.

Securityme­n went to the apartment and arrested the tenants, one of who turned out to be a crossdress­er. They denied the allegation­s made by the building caretaker.

Officer dies in mishap:

An officer of rank “Lance Corporal” in Ministry of Defense died in an accident, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to security sources, the victim was returning from his duty in Boubyan Island when his vehicle toppled.

He died on the spot. His corpse was referred to the Forensics Department.

Meanwhile, an Egyptian expatriate in his 30s died in a traffic accident in Mutla area on Tuesday.

The sources explained that securityme­n and paramedics rushed to the location after the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received informatio­n about the accident. Upon arrival, they discovered that the victim was driving a small heavy vehicle affiliated to his workplace and it had toppled.
