The state entities and private bodies cooperation had successfully set procedures to address the current challenge, His Highness Sheikh Sabah affirmed, thanking all individuals who participated in the fight against the virus.
KUWAIT CITY, May 9: In a sudden and sensational development coinciding with the announcement of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Thursday night about the arrival of the last plane in the comprehensive evacuation plan for citizens from various parts of the world as per the directive of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Chairman of Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) Youssef Al-Jassem said he submitted his resignation to Finance Minister Barak Al-Shitan and it will take effect in the beginning of June, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In a statement to the daily, Al-Jassem disclosed he discussed his resignation with the minister and other officials in the Ministry of Finance. He hopes the issue will be resolved soon, but he refused to divulge reasons behind his resignation, wishing the best for the national carrier despite the current circumstances in the country and the rest of the world.
Canceled
A Saudi surgeon conducted a surgery to remove a brain tumor of a Kuwaiti girl in a hospital in the French city of Colmar, after a French surgeon who was supposed to carry out the operation declined to do so due to spread of coronavirus.
Dr. Hani Al-Jahani was quoted by the official SPA news agency as saying Friday the Medical Office of Kuwait Embassy in Paris contacted a number of hospitals to help the girl who came to Paris to do the operation. But “all such efforts went in vain as the calls were rejected,” he said.
The Medical Office, added Al-Jahani, contacted him and he urged the hospital where he was working to conduct the surgery, but the hospital declined.
Al-Jahani said he pressed the hospital for a week and “finally they gave me the green light to do the surgery, which was a success.”
The operation took seven hours and while the girl was scheduled to remain in hospital for 10 days, she stayed for four days only, he said.
Commenting on a Twitter post that he canceled the resignation, Al-Jassem clarified he will wait for some time before taking any decision.
The daily found out that Al-Jassem’s decision to cancel the resignation, although it is still pending and conditional, is in response to the calls of prominent officials for him to remain in his post. He affirmed his willingness to cooperate to serve public interest, provided the fundamental reasons for submitting his resignation are addressed within the next few days; otherwise, resignation shall remain an option.
Sources previously hinted about the resignation, which is allegedly due to a dispute over the ceremony organized by KAC on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of its establishment. Sources disclosed the ceremony was held at Jaber Cultural Center last November at a total cost of KD 1.2 million.
