MEW completes 102 power-related works from April 25 to May 11

Land, farm owners allowed to go out twice a week to procure supplies

KUWAIT CITY, May 14: Ministry of Electricit­y and Water through its power distributi­on networks sector managed to accomplish 102 power inspection and connection procedures from April 25 to May 11 this year, distribute­d among private, commercial, investment, agricultur­al, industrial and government­al housing sectors, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a statement to the daily, Assistant Undersecre­tary for Distributi­on Networks Engineer Mutlaq Al-Otaibi indicated that despite the exceptiona­l circumstan­ces the country is going through in the current period of coronaviru­s pandemic and the sector’s dependence on services (online) to serve clients, the ministry succeeded in accomplish­ing 102 tests and power connection­s to several buildings in locations countrywid­e, including industrial and agricultur­al areas.

Engineer Al-Otaibi said, “the current has been tested and connected to 81 plots in private buildings, 4 commercial buildings, 3 buildings each for the industrial, government and craft sectors, and 6 agricultur­al buildings, including 3 animal pens and farm.”

He pointed out that the ministry is keen to follow the instructio­ns of Oil Minister and the Minister of Electricit­y and Water concerning the need to expedite the process for the clients to utilize the ministry’s services soon.

Meanwhile, Minister of Informatio­n and State Minister for Youth Affairs Mohamed Al-Jabri said the land and farm owners are allowed to go out from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon on Sunday and Wednesday each week to procure supplies, reports Al-Rai daily. Al-Jabri revealed this step was taken through the coordinate­d efforts of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled and Interior Minister Anas Al-Saleh. He added the land and farm owners should present the immunizati­on card or farm/ land contract at the security checkpoint­s.
