‘MoE wasted millions on e-learning’

Chairman of Kuwait Society for Quality Education Bader Al-Bahr disclosed that there is no room for delay in the provision of quality distance education platforms any longer after the Minister of Health stated on May 10 that the end of crisis will most likely be the beginning of next year, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Bader Al-Bahr confirmed that next August, which was adopted by the Council of Ministers to restart school, is not guaranteed unless all preparations and capabilities are harnessed to launch the distance education platforms and train teachers to ensure their readiness. He indicated that failure to equip the “distance education” platforms with high quality materials while the epidemic continues points to catastrophic solutions, which can lead to the failure of education for this current year and the next.

He said the Council of Ministers should take full responsibility for the decision binding on the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, including Kuwait University and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) to start immediately, and equip the platforms from now onward.

He stressed on adhering to the highest quality standards to ensure that final exams are conducted inside classrooms, especially at Kuwait University and PAAET, to avoid a situation whereby e-learning will be like a bridge for crossing to failure in the next academic year due to the possibility of students becoming successful without learning and the professors failing to deliver the curricula properly, and the whole process succumbing to series of corruption to trample the ministry for many years.

The daily said the suspects include a teacher of the Arabic language working for the Ministry of Education and is believed to be a middleman who worked for the visa trader. He allegedly received 2,000 dinars for his role to bring Egyptian workers to Kuwait.

He also allegedly provided housing for the workers for a few days after they arrived into Kuwait.
