KUWAIT CITY, May 17: Social Planning Professor at the College of Social Sciences in Kuwait University Dr Siham Al-Qabandi has warned about the negative impact of the long period of isolation on mental health, although it is necessary to curb the spread of coronavirus, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Speaking to the daily, Al-Qabandi pointed out that international news showed how most countries have been suffering from disruption of life in the last two months and the economy has been affected negatively, especially the countries that depend on companies and the private sector.

“They lost the source of income and employment because of the lockdown and curfew. Considering the economy is vital, countries have started finding ways to coexist with the virus,” she added. She also quoted the government as saying that life will gradually return to normal after May 30.

She stressed that curfew and home quarantine were imposed to prevent further spread of the virus in order to help hospitals and enable the medical staff to deal with the patients efficiently. Nevertheless,

the consequences of social separation may lead to the collapse of social communication and isolation if it continues for a long period, she concluded.

The information which was published earlier about preparing final statements of the organizational structure of the Ministry of Interior sectors, which includes department managers, their assistants, department heads and their assistants, is totally incorrect, reports Al-Anba daily quoting security sources.
