‘Mechanized system managed locally’
Eid power usage sees jump
KUWAIT CITY, May 26: Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development Sector in the Ministry of Social Affairs Hana Al-Hajri denied rumors spread on some social media platforms that the mechanization system in the ministry is managed from outside the country, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In a press statement, Al-Hajri stressed these rumors are baseless and the ministry owns the databases of social aid beneficiaries. She affirmed these databases are located in the main centers for family welfare management, as well as the ministry’s servers in the main and backup computer rooms.
She added the computer team in the ministry is led by the director of the Computer Department who also serves as general supervisor in charge of technical monitoring of all automated systems, including the family care automation system.
She clarified any automated system in the ministry is created in coordination with the Central Agency for Information Technology; along with highly efficient technicians tasked to respond to all technical and security malfunctions quickly, effectively and round the clock -- experts in the Computer Department itself or its counterpart in the Family Care Sector.
Power use jumps: The country’s electricity consumption index increased remarkably on the first day of the Eid Al-Fitr holiday compared to previous days; as it recorded 1,110 megawatts at 2:00 pm on the first day of Eid, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources.
Sources attributed the electrical consumption increase to the high temperature recorded that day -- 42 degrees Celsius. Sources said the high consumption index has started and it is expected to exceed the 12,500 megawatts mark after the Eid Al-Adha holiday in conjunction with the return of commercial activities.
On the other hand, the ministry completed the maintenance works in Station 10, which feeds plot numbers four and five in the Abdally farms area.
Protecting staff: Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Sector at the Ministry of Health Eng Abdul Aziz Al-Tashah affirmed that the ministry is keen on protecting the medical staff; taking into consideration the circumstances the country is currently going through in its fight against coronavirus, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to Al-Tashash, the ministry allotted 23 buildings in Jaber Al-Ahmad as accommodation for the medical frontliners. He affirmed these buildings are fully equipped and safe to ensure good living conditions for the medical staff, calling on the staff who want to reside in these buildings to submit their names.
