DUBAI:

UAE’s Emirate of Dubai decided Monday to reopen the economy on May 27, and allow people to move between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm.

The decision to reopen the emirate and the economy was based on “accurate assessment” of the health, economic and social conditions, Dubai Crown Prince and President of the Executive Council Sheikh Hamdan Al-Maktoum said in a statement.

He said there were “calculated” steps to return to normal life handin-hand with health measures.

The decision said people should wear face masks when out of the house and abide by a two-meter physical distancing.

People under 12 years old and older than 60 would be allowed into shopping malls, cinemas, sport centers and educationa­l centers, said the decision, neither those suffering from chronic diseases.

Retailers and wholesaler­s, clinics, training institutio­ns and gyms are allowed to operate.

Entertainm­ent centers and arcades are allowed to function as well.

The UAE’s total coronaviru­s cases is around 30,000 and deaths are 248. (KUNA)

ABU DHABI:

The UAE Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported five additional deaths due to the novel coronaviru­s (Covid-19), bringing the death toll to 253.

The number of infections with the highly contagious bug in this Gulf country rose by 779 to 31,086, the ministry said in a press statement.

The latest cases were confirmed as more than 28,000 new Covid-19 tests were conducted for citizens and residents, using sophistica­ted testing devices, it added.

A total of 325 more patients have recovered from the deadly virus, raising the country’s total count of recoveries to 15,982, it said. (KUNA)

MUSCAT:

Up to 348 people tested positive for the novel coronaviru­s (COVID-19), in past hours, raising toll of contaminat­ions with the pathogen to 8,118 in the Sultanate of Oman.

Official Oman News Agency, citing a statement released by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, said 171 of the freshly registered cases were of Omani nationals and 177 of expatriate­s.

The ministry added in the statement that 2,067 patients out of the total cases recovered and that count of deaths reached 37. (KUNA)

DOHA:

Qatar on Monday reported three new deaths due to the novel coronaviru­s (Covid-19), bringing the death toll up to 26.

The latest death cases are of men aged 65, 62 and 52, who suffered from chronic diseases, the Qatari Ministry of Health said in a press statement.

The ministry also recorded 1,752 additional infections with the globally spreading disease, taking the total number of confirmed cases in this Gulf country to 45,365.

The confirmed cases were put under quarantine in different medical facilities, the ministry said, adding that the count of recoveries has risen by 1,193 to 10,363. (KUNA)

MANAMA:

The Bahraini Ministry of Health on Monday confirmed 26 more cases of the novel coronaviru­s, known as Covid-19.

The fresh patients include 14 expat workers and 12 close contacts with previously unveiled cases, the ministry said in a press statement.

In addition, 166 patients have recovered from the deadly virus, bringing the kingdom’s overall count of recoveries up to 4,753, according to the statement.

Of the total figure, 4,387 patients are stable and eight others are in intensive care, it added. (KUNA)
