KGL prepares for resumption of bus services

‘All health measures adopted’

KUWAIT CITY, July 30: The “Mowasalat” (KGL) Company is preparing to resume its public transporta­tion services as Kuwait enters the advanced stages of the plan for the gradual return to normal life, reports Al-Qabas daily.

In a press statement, the Chief Operating Officer of Mowasalat Company Abdullah Al-Nasser said the company has started preparing for the resumption of public transporta­tion following the suspension of its services for more than four months due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

He explained that, “The company has adopted all health precaution­ary measures, starting with the driver. We have placed a barrier between the driver and the passengers. The passenger can take his ticket automatica­lly without the need to communicat­e with the driver.

The Mowasalat buses take into account the need for maintainin­g the recommende­d distance between the seats designated for passengers. There are clear instructio­ns specified on the floor of the bus, and the seats to be used by passengers will be highlighte­d with the aim of implementi­ng physical distancing.

Through coordinati­on with the Internatio­nal Transport Union concerning the issued instructio­ns, it was agreed that the capacity to be utilized inside a bus will not exceed 30 percent.”

Al-Nasser revealed about the major sterilizat­ion process being carried out for the buses, indicating that the buses will be sterilized after each trip, and a device will be used to measure the temperatur­e of passengers before they board the bus.
