COSTA MESA, California, July 30, (AP): Anthony Lynn addressed many topics on Wednesday about the Los Angeles Chargers reporting to training camp, but the one thing he didn’t have to discuss was a holdout involving one of his star players.

Any possibility of that happening became a moot point Tuesday night, when the franchise agreed to a five-year contract extension that will make pass rusher Joey Bosa the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL.

The Carolina Panthers have a new head coach, two new coordinators, a different starting quarterback and a roster with more turnover from last season than any team in the NFL.

They haven’t had a practice yet to begin actually installing the playbook, and won’t have a single preseason game to make evaluations on a very fluid roster situation.

The Minnesota Vikings put three more players, including defensive end Ifeadi Odenigbo, on their reserve list for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Linebacker Cameron Smith and offensive tackle Oli Udoh were also placed on COVID-19 reserve, bringing the team’s total on the list to seven players. Smith and Udoh were 2019 draft picks. Odenigbo is in line to take over as a starter, with the departure of 10-year veteran Everson Griffen.

Saints coach Sean Payton prefers not to use the term “training camp” to describe how he’s trying to prepare his club for this pandemic-altered NFL season.

“There’s nothing about this that’s like training camp. So, we’re going to approach it differently,” Payton said
