New COVID cases rise by 651
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5, (Agencies): The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health (MoH) registered on Wednesday 651 additional COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of infections to 69,425, while three new deaths were added to a death toll of 468.
Speaking to KUNA, MoH’s Spokesman Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad said the confirmed cases included patients who contracted the virus due to contact with infected people while others remained under examination to determine the source.
The latest virus cases include 425 Kuwaitis and 226 non-Kuwaitis, he pointed out.
The cases were found in the following areas: 219 were from Al-Ahmadi, 137 in Al-Farwaniyah, 132 in Al-Jahra, 79 in Hawalli and 84 in Al-Asimah.
In addition, there are 8,051 active cases, while 128 others are languishing in intensive care units, Al-Sanad elaborated.
4,550 swab tests were conducted over the past 24 hours bringing the total to 518,601, he revealed.
Earlier Wednesday, the ministry confirmed 580 fresh recovery cases, raising the total to 60,906 cured people so far.

KUWAIT CITY: With the start of the first working days, with a capacity not exceeding 50 percent, according to the decision issued by the Cabinet to limit the outbreak of the new COVID-19 virus epidemic, the Ministry of Communications (MoC) was forced to stop work in the Directory Inquiry 101 section pending complete sterilization of the department and conduct swab tests for all employees in the department after one of the workers was found infected with the virus, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The 101 service provides callers with the telephone numbers of ministries, government departments and agencies.
The Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice for Administrative Development Affairs and Service Centers, Sheikh Dirar Al-Sabah, announced the resumption of work in 7 additional service centers to receive visitors, as the third stage for gradual return to normal life began, reports AlSeyassah daily.
In a press statement Al-Sabah identified the seven out of a total of 13 centers as the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Government Mall, the Government Mall in Qurain, Sabah Al-Ahmad, Al-Yarmouk, Al-Siddiq, The Avenues and Rumaithiya.
He added, the six centers – Government Mall in the Liberation Tower, Sabhan, the Government Mall in Al Jahra, the Jaber Al Ali Mall, Mubarak Al Abdullah and Al Ardhiya – had begun operations, during the second phase.
He pointed out the visitors are received between 9:00 am and 12 noon provided they book appointments to visit the service centers which can be done by logging into meta.e.gov.kw.
Al-Sabah clarified adults and people with special needs are not required to make prior appointments. He added, the ministry has also launched the WhatsApp (22493402) inquiry service to assist visitors.
