KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: The Court of Appeals overturned the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance, which sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to 15-year imprisonment for narcotics trafficking. The court instead acquitted him, and placed him in a psychiatric hospital for treatment of addiction for a period of not less than six months.

According to the case file, the Public Prosecution charged the citizen with trafficking and consumption of narcotics after he was unable to prove that he had been authorized the use of narcotics.

The details of the incident were summarized in the investigation report by the concerned detectives. They explained that the suspect was found in possession of narcotics and psychotropic substances with the intent of trafficking and abuse.

At the time of his arrest, the narcotics were found concealed in a transparent nylon bag in his house and inside his vehicle.

Representing the defendant was Lawyer Ima’n Haidar who argued that the arrest and search warrants obtained by the arresting officer were invalid due to negligence committed during investigations.
