Zero revenues from wedding halls for MoSA

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: The Ministry of Social Affairs suffers from lack of annual revenues that it collects for the State treasury, especially since it is the largest government agency providing services and financial aid to a large segment of society, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources.

Wedding halls are among the most viral source of revenues, but the ministry incurred huge losses due to the exceptiona­l circumstan­ces the country is going through in view of the corona pandemic and the precaution­ary measures taken to curb the spread of the virus like the prohibitio­n of gatherings and closure of wedding and event halls until further notice, sources revealed.

Sources revealed the wedding halls had zero revenues in the last fiscal year – 2019/2020; especially after the cancellati­on of hundreds of reservatio­ns, refund of payments for these reservatio­ns and provision of insurance to the owners.
