Computers and tablets to orphan, poor students for use in distance education

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuwait Associatio­n for Needy Families Bader Al-Mubarak said the associatio­n intends to provide devices such as personal computers (laptops) or tablets to orphan students and those from lowincome families in view of the implementa­tion of distance education, reports Al-Jarida daily.

In a press statement, Al-Mubarak revealed the number of beneficiar­ies for the first phase of the project is 1,000 students. He said a substantia­l donation from a generous family will cover the expenses for provision of a suitable device – laptop or tablet – for each student in the first phase. He then appealed to benefactor­s to support the second phase of the project which will be beneficial to more than 1,500 students.

On the other hand, Director of Charities and Foundation­s Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs Hoda Al-Rashed affirmed the ministry’s supports for projects which encourage students to participat­e in training and educationa­l courses, as well as workshops, included in the distance education system. She added the Ministry of Education has approved plans to facilitate procedures for students to use the approved digital platforms for education.
