COVID-19 awareness messages broadcast

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27: The Ministry of Informatio­n has started broadcasti­ng flash advisories, messages and news programs in television and radio stations to educate citizens and residents about the corona pandemic, as well as to warn the public about a possible new wave of the epidemic, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources from the ministry.

Sources explained these public awareness methods are in line with the commitment of the ministry to issue the necessary directives to citizens and residents about anything related to the pandemic, taking into considerat­ion the continuous increase of infection rates daily. Sources affirmed the ministry has always been keen on keeping pace with developmen­ts in various institutio­ns and ministries, including their activities and events.

Sources said the television and radio messages aim to educate everyone about the procedures and decisions that are expected to be implemente­d by the relevant authoritie­s in the country, such as imposing penalties on those who violate health regulation­s and the Communicab­le Diseases Law. Sources disclosed these penalties include imprisonme­nt and fine for anyone who does not adhere to the health regulation­s. Sources went on to say that special circulars in this regard were issued to employees in various government agencies, stressing the need for everyone to abide by the instructio­ns and recommenda­tions of the Health Ministry.

Sources affirmed that the Informatio­n Ministry issued a circular to its employees, requiring them to strictly comply with the health regulation­s. A committee, headed by the assistant undersecre­tary for the Legal Affairs Sector in the ministry, was formed to follow up the implementa­tion of prevention measures, sources concluded.

❑❑❑ The Supreme Committee for the Applicatio­n of Distance Education Rules and Policies in various educationa­l stages – starting from kindergart­en to high school – for the 2020/2021 academic year recently held its sixth ‘online’ meeting chaired by Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Saud Al-Harbi through the ‘Microsoft Teams’ program; with the participat­ion of professors and directors of different academic fields, reports Al-Qabas daily.

They tackled the training plan for e-learning applicatio­ns, including the technical instructor­s and heads of department­s, as well as the study plans and curriculum distributi­on, particular­ly the kindergart­en and first three grades in the elementary level. It has been agreed that the training of all teachers will conclude on Thursday.

They also discussed the mechanism for evaluating students and school attendance for each educationa­l stage, during which it was emphasized that the participat­ion of parents will not go beyond monitoring the performanc­e of young children and communicat­ing with teachers.

The Sri Lankan embassy in Kuwait said the embassy will remain closed until Oct 11, 2020, because three of its employees were found to be infected with the coronaviru­s, reports Al-Rai daily.

The notice calls on those who have work related issues to communicat­e with the embassy via the e-mail in urgent cases during the closure period.
