KUWAIT CITY, Oct 18: National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim has invited the Cabinet and legislators to the opening of the supplementary parliamentary term on Tuesday.

The opening session for the supplementary term will start with the welcome reception for HH the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, which will be organized by the welcoming committee under the chairmanship of Al-Ghanim.

HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Mesha’al Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid AlSabah will also attend the session.

The Assembly is expected to discuss the bills on addressing the demographic imbalance issue and supporting the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Tuesday’s session.

Meanwhile, the Human Resources Development Committee on Sunday deliberated on the recommendations of the government, 15 concerned public institutions and a number of MPs regarding the Demographic Imbalance Bill. Committee Chairman MP Khalil Al-Saleh disclosed the committee will submit its final report about the bill to the National Assembly Secretariat General on Monday to pave way for its inclusion in the agenda for Tuesday’s session.

On the other hand, MP Essa Al-Kandari unveiled his plan to vote against the bill in its second reading; because the Financial and Economic Affairs ignored the amendments that he and MPs Adel Al-Damkhi and Osama Al-Shaheen proposed earlier.

In another development, MP Khalaf Demaitheer Al-Anzi called for waiving the citizens’ loans. He believes this will encourage the citizens to accept the government’s proposal to support the SMEs.

Al-Anzi argued the citizens are suffering from financial crisis as their salaries are no longer enough to cover their expenses, especially since the government keeps on ignoring the recommendation to collect KD14 billion revenues retained by a number of public institutions.
