Debt relief for client:
The Commercial Circuit at the Court of Cassation removed KD 44 million dinars from the debt of a Kuwaiti businessman and ordered that his debt be reverted to the origin, pursuant to Law Number 41/1993 concerning buying back state debt, as received from Kuwait Investment Authority, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Counsel to heirs of the debtor Attorney Hisham Al-Fahad had already filed an application with the Public Debt Bankruptcy Section at the Court of First Instance for verification of their late father’s debt by Kuwait Investment Authority. The man was declared bankrupt, based on the court summon number 51/2000 for public debt 2. The annual interest per annum over the original debt was calculated at 15 percent, in addition to loans from Al-Ahli Bank and Bahrain Arab International Bank.
He stressed the debts were initially KD 19.230 in 1990, but loans regarded as temporary and published on 26 February 2017 valued at KD 63.381 million. This was contrary to law number 41/1993.
The Trademark and Patent Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry received 1,622 requests for filing and registering a trademark through the online portal in September, reports Al-Qabas daily.
In a press statement, the ministry confirmed completion of 727 trademark registration transactions, 736 for trademark publication, and 159 for issuance of trademark registration certificates.
The ministry also completed 266 trademark renewal transactions, 118 requests to change the name of the registration agent, and 373 trademark renewal publishing transactions.
