Kuwait Agro Company, with the cooperation of Qurtoba Co-operative Society and the US Embassy in Kuwait, has opened a branch store under the name “The American Truck” to display and highlight the American products available in the co-operative society, reports Aljarida daily.

Commenting on the event, the

Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Kuwait Larry Memmott said, “Many Kuwaitis visit the United States annually, either for studying at our world-class educational institutions, or to visit our wonderful tourist destinations. Upon their return to Kuwait, they are eager to taste their favorite American products which they got accustomed to during their stay in the US. We are hence pleased to see that the favorite American products are made available to Kuwaitis.”

Memmot revealed that these items include more than 400 American-made food items and consumer products, giving customers the opportunity to enjoy these unique products in Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: The ministries of Education and Interior has reached an agreement to renew the residency of about 1,000 expatriate teachers and technical workers who are stuck abroad due to the coronavirus pandemic; provided they are specialized in the fields that the Ministry of Education needs like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Arabic and English, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources from the government sector.

Sources disclosed these stranded employees registered in the cultural offices of the Kuwaiti embassies in the countries where they are currently located, and their names were forwarded to the Ministry of Education.

Sources said the Ministry of Education is preparing the official records that its interior counterpart will use as reference for residency renewal, indicating the Ministry of Education promised to submit the records next week.

Transit

Sources clarified these employees will return to Kuwait through transit in another country, disclosing the ministry asked the competent authorities to facilitate procedures to allow them to return directly to Kuwait and it is still waiting for a response.

Sources added the technical workers who will be allowed to return through the agreement to renew their residency include social workers, psychologists, accountants and those in charge of providing certain services.

Sources affirmed the Ministry of Education does not need other specializations, so it intends to apologize to the concerned expatriate employees for not renewing their residency. Source explained this is due to the availability of Kuwaitis, children of Kuwaiti women married to nonKuwaitis, Gulf nationals and Bedouns. This is in addition to opening the door for graduates of Kuwait University and Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) for the following specializations: Islamic Studies, Sociology, History, Philosophy, Psychology and Geography; as well as practical studies that include electricity, mechanics and decoration, and some Science majors like Biology and Geology, sources revealed.

Mechanism

Asked about the mechanism for paying the dues of teachers whose residency will not be renewed, sources confirmed all of these teachers will receive their privileges in accordance with the law -either through the appointment of representatives to receive their dues or issuance of visit visa for them to attend to their pending matters. This will be made possible through the concerted efforts of the Public Education Sector in the Ministry of Education and the Civil Service Commission, sources concluded.
