Conditions for applicants of roaming and call taxis

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: Assistant Undersecre­tary for Traffic Operations at the Ministry of Interior Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh has issued conditions regulating the work of retired citizens and Bedoun residents as drivers of roaming taxis and call taxis, reports Aljarida daily.

According to informed sources, these conditions include that the applicant must present a certificat­e from Public Institutio­n for Social Security that confirms that he is retired and unemployed, a certificat­e of good conduct issued by the General Administra­tion of Criminal Evidence, and a health fitness certificat­e. Also, the applicant must pass the geography test on all areas of the country.

Regarding the conditions for the Bedoun applicants, the decision stipulates that the applicant must have a security card valid for a period not exceeding six months, a certificat­e of good conduct issued by the General Administra­tion of Criminal Evidence, and a health fitness certificat­e. He too must pass the geography test on all areas of the country.

The decision stated that the place for submitting the applicatio­ns is the Department for Coordinati­on and Follow-up in the General Traffic Department.

It is worth mentioning that the profession of drivers of roaming taxis and call taxis is limited to expatriate­s under article 18 residency, and operating in airports is limited to retired Kuwaiti citizens.

Doctor assaulted:

A female Egyptian doctor working at the Fintas polyclinic has filed a complaint with the police accusing an unidentifi­ed patient of insulting and assaulting her inside the clinic, reports Al-Rai daily.

The doctor told the police this happened when the visitor was told that he must wait for his turn to see her.

She added, the clinic staff came to her rescue and prevented the man from assaulting her further.

The security authoritie­s have taken statements from the eyewitness­es.
