KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22, (Agencies): Kuwait Airways through its Twitter account and reported by Alwatannews.net announces resumption of its flights to Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, starting from next Sunday, Oct 25, 2020. The Kingdom reopened its skies for international and domestic flights in September after suspending air travel to curb the spread of coronavirus COVID-19.
Kuwait’s confirmed coronavirus cases increased by 889 to 119,420 with nine people having succumbed to the disease raising the death toll to 730 in the past 24 hours, the health ministry said on Thursday.
There are 126 people currently receiving intensive care for the virus out of a total 7,976 patients being hospitalized.
Some 8,045 swab tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, out of a total of 857,707 so far, added the spokesman.
The official reiterated the strict need to abide by health precautions, urging nationals and expatriates alike that following social distancing rules is the only way to keep the virus at bay.
Earlier, the ministry said 798 people have recovered from the virus, upping the total number of those to have overcome the disease to 110,714.
Preventive
European Union Ambassador to Kuwait Dr Cristian Tudor praised Thursday the preventive measures Kuwait has undertaken in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
This came during Tudor’s meeting with the Kuwaiti Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Basil Al-Sabah, according to a health ministry statement.
The meeting discussed measures taken to address and contain the virus, including programs, and health cooperation.
The minister also discussed with India’s Ambassador Sibi George viewpoints on how to best combat the virus and boosting cooperation.
Ministry of Education has called on parents to cooperate with school administrations for the benefit of students, especially in light of the current exceptional circumstances, in carrying out the distance learning system, which is a new educational system that requires concerted efforts to make it successful, reports Al-Anba daily.
In this regard, educational sources revealed the interference of parents during the online classes when the male or female teacher presents their lesson to the students.
They highlighted the psychological pressures that the teachers face.
The sources explained that some parents commented by saying, “Teacher, give the opportunity to my child” or “Teacher, my child did not understand certain words” or “Teacher, I checked my child’s work”.
The teacher has to work extra hard as he presents the lesson to the student and his guardian, and finds difficulty in focusing on carrying out his task.
The sources urged parents to follow their children without interfering in the teacher’s work, highlighting the need to give the teacher an opportunity to present his lessons according to the set plan without confusing him.
On the other hand, a number of department heads of academic subjects called on the Ministry of Education to issue a clear circular or bulletin to exempt them from teaching and not to leave the matter in the hands of the school director, as there are those who exempt them from teaching and there are those who are waiting for clear instructions from the ministry.
In a letter addressed to the Minister of Education and Higher Education, they said, “We are a group of department heads in the intermediate level who are suffering from unnatural pressure due to training and following up teachers and students during the distance learning process”
