MoSA to sign co-op protocol with MoH for Elderly Care Department
tKUWAIT CITY, Jan 13: Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Assistant Undersecretary for Social Welfare Affairs Musallam Al-Subaie confirmed that the ministry will soon sign a cooperation protocol with its health counterpart for the Elderly Care Department to fully benefit from the medical personnel in order to better serve the elderly, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Al-Subaie explained to the daily that the ministry seeks to develop the shelter, day and home services provided to the elderly through the protocol.
He revealed the number of elderly benefiting from the services through mobile care (home care) reached 3,521; in addition to 19 who are receiving residential care at Farah Specialized Center in the Welfare Homes Complex while the number of beneficiaries of the priority card for the elderly totaled 23,207.
He confirmed the mobile medical teams will resume providing services to the elderly in their homes once the coronavirus is contained.
He added the Social Welfare Sector recently received generous donations from Salmiya, Salwa and Hateen cooperatives, as well as the charitable fund for care homes. He said all these donations are being poured into the improvement of services provided by the mobile medical teams.
He also unveiled a plan to increase the number of mobile medical teams in a bid to provide the best services to the elderly and reduce the time for the elderly to wait during each visit. He revealed the objective of expanding home care servvices is to protect the elderly’s dignity and family unity by providing the necessary services at home, as well as guide the family members on how to take care of the elderly.
Meanwhile, Musallam Al-Subaie, has issued 36 decisions to appoint 5 directors, 11 observers, and 20 department heads in the Ministry of Social Affairs.
In a press statement, Al-Subaie said, the ministry is keen to give eligible candidates their rights in line with the regulations and systems put in place by Civil Service Commission (CSC). He added, accordingly the employees were confirmed in their positions after the Personnel Affairs Committee gave the nod to the appointments.
He pointed out that the names were confirmed in accordance with CSC Decision No. 25 of 2006 which spells out conditions for occupying supervisory positions in the ministries. He added, the ministry is about to approve the confirmation of another group of eligible employees, which will be announced at a later date.
The decisions, a copy of which has been obtained by the daily, includes the extension of the mandate and the confirmation of the Director of the Family Welfare Department in the Social Development Sector Hayat Al-Failakawi, the Director of the Administrative Development Department in the Planning and Administrative Development Sector Ahmed Al-Azmi, the Director of the Department of Membership Affairs and Associations Ahmed Al-Foudry, and the Director of the Civil Associations Department in the Social Development Sector Khaled Al-Qahtani, Director of the Financial Affairs Department Hamoud Al-Otaibi.
