‘Empowering’ people with disabiliti­es in society vital, says KRCS’ Dr Al-Sayer

KRCS eyes cooperatio­n agreement with KSCD

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13, (KUNA): Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer underlined Wednesday the importance of empowering people with disabiliti­es in society, supporting and providing them with the necessary logistical and moral support.

Speaking to KUNA after Al-Sayer’s meeting with a delegation from the Kuwait Sports Club for the Deaf (KSCD), he said that KRCS strongly believes in the necessity of caring for people with special needs, especially the deaf, as well as their volunteer work to help countrywid­e.

KRCS is about to make a cooperatio­n agreement with KSCD in the fields of volunteeri­ng, first aid and training in sign language, he added, indicating that it is a positive step that will benefit the community.

Status

Al-Sayer deeply thanked and appreciate­d KSCD for its achievemen­ts in internatio­nal sporting forums, raising the nation’s flag high and highlighti­ng Kuwait’s sporting status.

Similar statement expressed, Deputy Chairman of KSCD Khaled Zaman mentioned the great societal role that KRCS plays towards all groups of Kuwaiti society, including the deaf.

Zaman pointed to the importance of cooperatio­n with KRCS in spreading the culture of volunteeri­ng, also first aid.

He underlined KSCD’s ability to interact with various community initiative­s, especially with regard to the deaf, indicating the importance of their participat­ion in volunteer work with several Kuwaiti institutio­ns.

Another parallel statement to KUNA, Secretary General of KSCD Anwar Al-Harbi confirmed that people with special needs in general, the deaf in particular, are an integral part of society, as they must be cared for and supported through their involvemen­t in volunteer work to serve the nation.

KRCS supports all humanitari­an efforts for those in need and impacted without hesitation to provide aid to those with special needs and are deaf, inside and outside the country, Al-Harbi pointed out.
